This month has been a month of transitions. Transitioning into a new country, new climate, new work, and new things in every aspect of my life. These transitions can be exhausting mentally as well as physically, but it is all for a reason that is greater than any struggles that may arise. In spite of the exhaustion I have been able to see God’s hand moving in great ways in the short time that I have been living here in Ecuador. When I arrived I hit the ground running with the work here in Guayaquil with two teams that came in July. The first team was a team of engineering students from El Paso, TX who came to pass out and train people on the use and benefits of water filters. These filters were given to families from our Sunrise House children’s center. Many of these families live in an improvised town near our El Recreo church where the center is located. The are is is effected by poverty and a lack of basic services. By giving out these filters alongside members of the church, the team was able to provide access to clean healthy water which is often limited due to financial or other factors. The families were so grateful to receive this gift from the church and the smiles on their faces were priceless, knowing that they would be able to provide clean water for these growing children. The next team was a Chilean team (from the church I worked at in Chile) who started their trip in San Vicente, which is the area we are working that was affected by the earthquake in April. The team assisted in the building of the 8th house as well as visiting families who had received houses and others who had accepted Christ to share devotionals and Bible studies. We also had the opportunity to have children’s activities in a few of the neighborhoods and in one of the refugee camps in the town, bringing joy and good news to the children and their families. Back in Guayaquil, the team began the renovation of the youth room in El Recreo, which is a project that I will be working on, guiding the redesign process. Apart from working with the teams, I have also been focusing on graphic design, photography, and video for many different projects for our organization. I have been able to create various fundraising materials that will be used to raise funds for our earthquake relief as well as other projects. Additionally, I am in the process of creating new logos for a few different projects for the organization here in Ecuador. This type of work is what I will be focusing on day to day for the time being when we are not directly working with teams or other projects that arise. Thank you all for your support through the beginning of this journey and for partnering with me in this ministry here in Ecuador. I ask that you continue to pray for my transition into this country and my work here as well as for the our 6 churches here, that God would move in powerful ways in each community. I am also still looking for individuals and churches to partner with me through prayer as well as financial support in both one time and monthly support, so if you are interested in participating in this ministry through these forms please feel free to contact me by email at [email protected] or find more information on my blog at jeremycohn.weebly.com Support financially by following steps listed here >>>
